Food wholesaler cuts energy bills by more than 15%

New chill room, glazing and lighting helps Inverness-based business save carbon

Swansons Food Wholesalers in Inverness came to Zero Waste Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Business Support Service when it needed to replace two inefficient shipping containers with a modern chill room.

The business was given further recommendations to install double-glazed windows in the office and switch to LED lighting, with all the changes saving around £2,000 a year.

Owner Magnus Swanson said:

“I would certainly recommend Zero Waste Scotland to anyone considering looking at their energy efficiency. They’ll come up with a lot of ideas and probably some you hadn’t thought about, so well worth getting them in to have a look round your business to see how they can help you”.
